Overview

Ex Delhi: 6 Hrs (255 Kms.)

Lansdowne is a hill station in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. It was founded as a military garrison under the British Raj, and the Garhwali Museum traces the history of the Garhwal Rifles regiment, which still trains in the town. Close to colonial-era St. Mary’s Church, Tip-n-Top viewpoint is perched up on a ridge overlooking forested hills. Hindu devotees worship Shiva at the centuries-old Kaleshwar Temple.

The pristine surroundings and the weather encourages many travellers to indulge in meditation. Enjoy recreational activities such as boating, paddling, trekking, bird watching etc. This place also offers a marvelous view of sunrise and sunset. Lansdowne is one of the quietest and unspoiled hill stations of India and has been a popular destination since Britishers came to India. Encircled by the dense oak and blue pine forests, Lansdowne appears like an old painting. Located far away from the maddening crowd of the cities, Lansdowne is an ideal retreat for the holiday makers. Lansdowne is unlike other hill stations, as it is well connected with motorable roads but remote in its own way. It is situated at an altitude of 1780 mts above sea level surrounded with thick oak and blue pine forests in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state.
